Featured Project:

Michael

Directed by Antoine Fuqua
Produced by Graham King, A Lionsgate Release
Underscore music by Lior Rosner

Working on Michael was a fantastic experience. Though the film is largely driven by the Michael Jackson catalogue, there was a need for dramatic underscore throughout, which I composed. It presented a unique challenge: finding a musical language that could function as a dramatic underscore while still living organically within the world of that catalog. The result was a sound that bridges those two worlds.

In many ways, the project also brought me back to a much earlier time in my life. As a teenager, I would listen to Thriller and Off the Wall, completely immersed in that music. Quincy Jones was one of my earliest idols, so the opportunity to contribute to a film centered around that legacy felt particularly meaningful.

Lior Rosner’s film and television credits include work on films such as X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Valkyrie, Little Fockers, Cirque du Freak, and Fantastic Four.

His television work includes NBC’s revival of Will & Grace, for which he reimagined the iconic theme and received multiple ASCAP Awards. He has also composed for Q-Force and AJ and the Queen, collaborating with Michael Patrick King and RuPaul.

Additional television credits include the theme for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as well as Heroes and Villains: The Secret History of Comics, Battle Creek, Forever, and The History of Comedy.

His film work includes original scores for Seconds Apart, The Geography Club, Sins of Our Youth, Wedding Doll, and The Losers, among others across independent and studio productions.

His choral composition They’ll Remember You, featured in Valkyrie, was nominated for a World Soundtrack Award and has since entered the contemporary choral repertoire.

Cinematic Vol. 2:
Philip Glass Remixed

(Creator, Co-Producer)

Reimagining the music of Philip Glass through a modern electronic lens, Kummerspeck brings a visceral, ambient, and genre-defying approach to some of Glass’s most iconic works. Drawing from his operas, film scores, and concert repertoire, the album reshapes the composer’s signature minimalism into haunting synthscapes, modular textures, and cinematic grooves.

“Glass’s music already pulses with cinematic potential,” says Kummerspeck. “Our goal wasn’t to modernize it — it was to let it bloom in unexpected directions. This album is both a love letter and a detour.”

Cinematic Vol. 2 is the follow-up to Kummerspeck’s original Cinematic Vol. 1, which explored new works inspired by the emotional language of film. In this sequel, they turn their attention to the master of minimalism, deconstructing and recontextualizing Glass’s legacy for a new generation of listeners.

Sugar Plum on the Run

A reimagining of the world of The Nutcracker, Sugar Plum on the Run continues the story beyond its familiar ending—following the Sugar Plum Fairy as she leaves the Land of Sweets and goes on a journey of discovery.

Built as a series of variations on a theme by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, each variation explores a different character and style, with subtle nods to the broader Russian tradition.

Recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and featuring Jeremy Irons, the album blends symphonic scale with a narrative, character-driven approach.

Released on Sony Classical, Sugar Plum on the Run has reached a wide global audience, becoming one of the most widely streamed contemporary classical crossover projects of its kind

Clair de Lune — SAKURA Cello Quintet

Produced by Lior Rosner

I was inspired by a group of five young cellists who came together to form the SAKURA Cello Quintet, and took on the role of producer and executive producer for their debut studio album. What immediately stood out was not only their individual virtuosity, but the natural chemistry between them—the sense that they were listening and shaping the music as one.

The album draws from the classical repertoire, spanning Renaissance to 20th-century composers, alongside selections from classic film scores. The focus was on reimagining this music through the sound of the cello ensemble, bringing a sense of intimacy, warmth, and depth to familiar works. As producer, my focus was on capturing that chemistry—shaping a balance between clarity and blend, and allowing the ensemble to function as a single, unified voice. The album was released by Platoon Records, a label owned by Apple Music.
